Field-Evaluations

Field-Evaluation of Products

Field evaluations

Accurate efficiency data in field evaluations can provide a real advantage to end-users (growers, farm advisors) because it brings a solid proof of the interest of using the evaluated BCA. The cost/benefits of this activity likely vary among socio-economic contexts, BCA and agrosystems. Here, the teams will conduct evaluations performed jointly by enterprises, research institutes and growers/advisors networks in an attempt to gauge their benefits in terms of marketing.

The efficiency field-evaluation are performed by comparing pest densities, crop damage and final economic loss between sites with and without BCA release. These sites are pesticide free. They are selected in the field networks of partners and clients of each enterprise. Then, the teams define the conditions (doses, interactions with pesticides, cultural practices, etc.) that each enterprise would like to test when evaluating the BCA. In the sites, the teams will monitor pest population densities and will evaluate the damages to crops/fruits (and the loss associated to the presence of pests), using the methods set up jointly by each enterprise and its associated public partner in the mixed R&D team.
